An MFA recipient from Syracuse University, with a BFA from the University of Georgia, Cher Cornett has worked as a graphic designer, photographer and illustrator since 1980. She had the opportunity to beta test the first version of Adobe Photoshop, and worked as an art director and interface designer on the pioneering team at Florida State University that developed some of the very first interactive educational game titles. She continued that work as an entrepreneur as the owner of CC Design, a mid-sized design and multimedia studio in Tallahassee, FL. Cher began her teaching career in the early 90’s as chair of the Graphic Arts Technology program at State Technical Institute at Memphis where she built one of the first interactive multimedia programs in a 2-year college; then taught in the Interactive Multimedia Master Degree Program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. She recently retired as tenured Associate Professor in Digital Media at East Tennessee State University. She was the Director of the Digital Media program for 6 years, and taught courses spanning from freshman foundational design through graduate level digital content creation. She is also founder of Create Appalachia, a non-profit organization for economic development through the arts for Southern Central Appalachia, and has served as a member of the Johnson City Downtown Design Committee and Public Art Committee.
