Cherena Robertson is a Provisional psychologist at Your Psych Centre. Cherena is a qualified certified fitness instructor and Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner so her program is the whole package and is a training ground that draws parallels between being physically fit and being life fit. Life is also an obstacle course, but a good workout helps develop mental toughness taking that confidence to become more resilient in life. Cherena’s group training classes are fun and suitable for all including seniors and kids and are designed to adapt to the capabilities of all her clients and targets the whole body. No class is ever the same and carefully planned and no matter how difficult the session might have felt you walk away feeling great and empowered to stay the course. Before training with Cherena, I wasn’t getting the results I wanted despite exercising regularly and sticking to a healthy diet (particularly as a Type 2 diabetic). I felt stuck and didn’t know what else to try. Cherena has a way of reframing the behaviour patterns you want to change to tap into the blockages that have been sabotaging your progress which innately spills into other areas of your life that you deliberately avoid. She unblocked an area of my life that had been tormenting me for years preventing me from losing the weight despite doing all the right things. The mental fog that previously consumed me was lifted but areas of my life that I didn’t want to tackle unveiled themselves. After living abroad for many years, I was adapting to life back in Australia as well as a separation and a career that wasn’t fulfilling me, but since signing up to both her fitness classes and life coaching sessions, her strategies have given me the resolve to keep climbing. I’ve engaged in physical training most of my life, some exercises I could never do despite my perseverance and others were due to injuries but I managed to get beyond the mental blocks. Being able to do my first ever sit up and push up on the toes, running two marathons, climbing Mt Warning twice and beating my time on the second trip; and understanding the values that I really want to gain out of my career are just some examples that I can attribute to her commitment to my journey!
