Polymer chemist with over 5 years managerial experience supervising the global analytical R&D efforts of a team of Ph.D. scientists at Whitford Worldwide (Malvern, PA), a leading manufacturer in the area of fluoropolymers. My academic experience spans 12 years of service, of which I have served in my current leadership role as Chair and Associate Professor at Delaware State University (6 years). My research foci lies in the synthesis and chemical functionalization of nanomaterials toward biomedical & optoelectronic applications. As PI, co-PI, and key personnel on several university-, NASA, NSF, DoD, and NIH-funded grants totaling over $25,000,000, I am involved in several large-scale research focus centers and teams with Dupont Nemours, CREOSA and CREST. I have served as research advisor of (8) Ph.D. and (6) M.S. graduate students, and mentored the research of over 20 undergraduates. I also serve as panel reviewer for a number of peer reviewed journals and federal agencies.
