Cherie drove the creation and affirmation of Document Naming Conventions in liaison with the relevant discipline leads, while creating the Project Document Control and Records Management Plan. Cherie spearheaded the InEight TeamBinder setup, as part of the Project Information Management System, including backend configuration, establishing security groups, and ongoing monitoring of access rights. Cherie also provides training and guidance within TeamBinder, SharePoint filing system, and the use of project templates. Working with the Alliance Team to review and refine documentation to ensure of high-quality submissions. Prior to CDSIP, Cherie acted as Full time Document Controller, on North East Link, another Alliance project within SMEC. Desktop PublisherInland Rail Jun 2020 - Aug 2020Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaAs Desktop Publisher within the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Production Team, Cherie assisted in the production of the Environmental Impact Statements, critical to the public exhibition/community submission phase of Inland Rail. Due to political and construction delays, several EIS deadlines fell within weeks of each other. Cherie was contracted as Desktop Publisher to assist the team with the mounting workload and competing deadlines. Her main duties consisted of typesetting large documents within Microsoft Word. This task required a calm and meticulous person to steadily scour through and rebrand hundreds, upon hundreds of pages of reports, as per Inland Rail specifications. All reports went through Cherie, before being sent to Technical Editors for review of content. To rebrand the documents, Cherie utilised styles, themes and templates within Microsoft Word. Addressing document elements such headers, footers, margins, tables, figures, cross references, foot notes, table notes and the Table of Contents. Drawing from a background in Graphic Design, Cherie managed the data heavy reports with intent to increase the visual ease for the reader. This process required creative thinking and problem-solving skills and it also saw Cherie recreating diagrams and graphs. Once the reports were final Cherie was also responsible for adding alternate text to the PDFs to ensure document accessibility for the visually impaired.Cherie succeeded in this role, showcasing her proficient use of Word, PowerPoint, Indesign and Acrobat Pro, in addition to using modern communication and workflow tools such as Microsoft Teams and Trello. -
Proposals CoordinatorBellwether Dec 2019 - Jun 2020Brisbane, AustraliaAs a member of the pre contracts team, Cherie was responsible for the collation and submission of tender documentation. Her organisation and coordination skills ensured ‘on time’ tender submissions, addressing all tender requirements. Attention to the little details helped Cherie to spot inconsistencies and provide a polished and professional product. Due to the sheer size of content required on some tenders, Cherie worked hard to achieve a visual ease via layout and design, to assist the panel in their evaluation stage. Cherie operated within the team to collate and quality check all inputs from the Bid Lead, Estimator and Proposals Lead. Cherie reviewed and issued ‘for use’ the company’s Quality Assurance documents within the Bellwether suite of documents while maintaining visual and brand consistency. Cherie managed the maintenance of multiple registers, including the tender login database, project master schedule, active tenders list and client contact databases, to ensure accurate and current information was readily available to staff. Cherie was also responsible for the review and processing of all incoming tender notifications, transmittals and project mail from internal and external sources, distributing important information as required. -
Document ControllerQueensland Rail Apr 2019 - Dec 2019Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaCherie was seconded into Queensland Rail for 20 hours a week for 9 months, while performing her full-time role as Team Secretary at Arcadis. This secondment was established to manage the accumulation of documents that required urgent long-term storage. Responsibilities included sorting, filing, cataloguing and retrieval of both electronic and hard copy documents. During this time Cherie was exposed to internal systems such as Trim, SAP and Meridian. Queensland Rail owns thousands of live assets that can have a dramatic effect public travel, safety and potential flow on effects to road traffic. Cherie supported the Network Asset Manager to coordinate the catalogue and archival of digital files uploaded to Meridian the internal DAM System, in addition to the permanent paper documents destined for a physical storage facility. The storage is essential to guarantee easily accessible information, especially in an emergency (such as a truck striking a rail bridge). Cherie’s responsibilities included the timely, accurate and efficient preparation and management of documents and associated metadata. Attention to detail was paramount to ensure the accurate storage of files regarding naming, numbering and versioning, all critical to the sequential storage of data. During her time at Queensland Rail Cherie produced a Network Asset Management User Manual, containing steps and procedures associated with the role. Cherie was able to comprehend and then simplify complex systems by creating and including diagrams and flow charts. The manual is still in use within the Network Asset Management Team, providing ongoing support to new recruits and promoting a consistency of process. -
Team SecretaryArcadis Mar 2018 - Dec 2019BrisbaneAs Team Secretary supporting a large team, Cherie provided a consistent level of service to ensure all team members across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, felt accommodated and assisted. The Director and team of forty could rely on Cherie to get things done without fuss and with a smile. The responsibilities of this role were numerous but satisfying to Cherie, who enjoys helping staff and solving problems. The role included calendar management and chasing timesheet completion to insure billability deadlines. Cherie assisted Project Managers by running reports and analysing the commercial data to aid in project reporting. Cherie also supported the production of documents, proof reading and quality control for team members working on Tenders. Time management was key, especially when coordinating travel needs such as flights, accommodation and car hire. During her time at Arcadis Cherie was allocated to several projects to manage document transfers and administrated independent verification procedures. While mostly working in an administration capacity, Cherie also ran errands as required, organised events and ensured all staff birthdays and career achievements were acknowledged. Cherie scheduled all project reviews, completed credit card reconciliations and expense claims. Created and managed the Team’s SharePoint page, encouraging regular collaboration and input from staff. Cherie recognised her role as a small yet vital cog in a larger machine, and without her consistent support the machine would come to a grinding halt. Her positive attitude was infectious amongst the wider team and office, allowing her to form strong relationships and contribute to workplace culture. -

Cherie sought out a living overseas to gain valuable life experience and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of her life. During this period of employment, Cherie reported to the Workflow Manager, while supporting the wider office. Cherie managed the Help Desk and processed document requests from staff, such as; finding missing files or unlocking files, managing staff adherence to company file and folder naming conventions and managing user permissions. User permissions were critical to Sapient Nitro, limiting access to retain the competitive edge ahead of a campaign launch. This Application allowed clients to make comments, flag issues and return their designs with notes for editing. This experience allowed Cherie to facilitate training workshops for staff, while providing ongoing support to clients. Running parallel to this training, Cherie created an accompanying User Guideline document, containing diagrams and info graphics. -
Graphic DesignerPeter Day Environmental Art+Design Jul 2012 - Mar 2014Sydney, AustraliaCherie provided graphic design services to rebrand the company and studio. The rebrand included all stationery items and studio fact sheets. Upon the completion of the rebrand, Cherie stayed on as an Artists’ Assistant, working on complex mosaic murals. This role allowed Cherie to dive into her own art making practice where she learnt the value of hard work and persistence. Thinking back to this role fondly, this role provided a great foundation to Cherie’s career, and afforded the time to invest in critical thinking, problem solving and resourcefulness.
