I'm responsible for reviewing development applications, strategic plans and scheme amendments from local government authorities; subdivision applications from the WAPC; applications for access onto our highways and roads; applications from third parties to undertake works within our road reserves; reviewing traffic management plans for Main Roads projects and third party works; restricted access vehicle (RAV) route assessments; document and strategy reviews from other agencies.

Provide support and facilitate Local Government and community participation in the development, implementation and evaluation of local road safety programs and promotions which are aligned with the WA road safety strategy and are aimed at reducing death and serious injury.Facilitate the establishment of, and guide, the ongoing functioning and development of local road safety committees and statewide network of individuals and groups involved in road safety.Facilitate the local implementation of the WA road safety strategy and promote Road Safety Council and RoadWise Program initiatives.Inform and mobilise local communities for local road safety action aligned to the WA road safety strategy.Initiate the planning, development and implementation of community-based road safety programs and promotions based on principles of best practice.Evaluate and report on road safety program and promotion effectiveness.Critically review and interpret road crash data and road safety research to identify crash problems and provide the rationale and evidence for local road safety initiatives e.g. provide advice to Local Governments on black spots.Promote, inform and advise Local Governments and community groups in accessing funding through the Community Road Safety Grants to plan, implement and evaluate community-based road safety activities and projects.Establish and sustain a network of Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitters within the region.Present information about road safety to build knowledge and skills within the community road safety network and local communities.Liaise and work with Road Safety Council member agencies, other government and non-government agencies, local businesses and community groups towards achieving positive road safety outcomes.Participate in Regional Road Group meetings and provide a report.Inform and provide advice to other regional groups on road safety issues and initiatives as outlined in the WA state road safety strategy.

I was responsible for the statutory town planning section of the City. Me and my team accepted, assessed and determined all applications for planning approval for anything from a simple patio to a multi-million dollar shopping centre and everything in between.We also administered the Local Heritage Fund and Municipal Heritage Inventory, as well as looking after the naming of roads and other geographical features.Following a major restructure of the organisation, and 11 years, I decided to take a redundancy.
