My work has focused on the taxonomy, ecology, and distribution of mosses in the Venezuelan páramos, emphasizing high-mountain areas and regions affected by climate change. I have participated in various research projects, including creating taxonomic databases, developing red lists of threatened species, primary succession in glacial retreat lines, and studying interactions between mosses and ecosystem engineers.My research has significantly contributed to the understanding of moss biodiversity in Venezuela and has provided key information for decision-making in conservation. In addition to my research work, I have played an active role in training new generations of biologists at the University of the Andes and coordinating the educational program at the Mérida Botanical Garden Institute and the Senderos Foundation.As an educational coordinator, I am passionate about communicating the importance of biodiversity and promoting sustainable practices. I have designed and implemented various educational workshops aimed at students of all levels, as well as local communities, to promote the conservation of Andean ecosystems and mitigate climate change.
