Cheryl Anderson is a registered psychologist and an authorised Medicare provider, with a private practice, located in the Emu Plains area. The focus of her practice is individual adults and older adolescents and her clients include those with issues such as, anxiety, depression and stress and, increasingly, complex trauma. Many people disclose underlying childhood issues or a history of domestic violence, in the course of their sessions. She is a Medicare provider, who possesses a current Police Check, as well as a current Working with Children Check. Her depth of experience in child protection and domestic violence was developed during an association of over thirty years, with Family and Community Services, Community Services. She is a very experienced assessor, in the areas of child protection and Out of Home Care (OOHC) having completed numerous Carer Reviews, Reviews of Kinship placements as well as reports relating to placement and attachment. In 2001 she set up and operated a practice, on behalf of the Mid North Coast Division of General Practice, under the MAHS programme and in 2007 established a practice in Penrith, until moving to her current premises, early in 2014. Cheryl was associated with the NSW Domestic Violence (DV) Line, in NSW for over fifteen years, as both a caseworker and as Manager. She also previously worked for a telephone service, which supports health practitioners in remote areas. The issues, with which they called included adjustment to a remote culture - and then a reverse culture adjustment on returning home - and living and working in the same location; bullying and harassment; issues around current and past traumas, from floods to car accidents, or just the general stress of long hours on duty and on call.Cheryl intends to retire from psychology in 2024. She has sufficient work within her private practice until then and is not interested in other job opportunities within the field of psychology.
