My Culture, A Trip Through Hell, and A Couple of DoctorsI was raised in a home where Christianity and Spiritualism intermingled... My mother was a Sunday school teacher, we went to Methodist church on Sundays, and yet going to tea leaf readers, card readers, mediums, hypnotists and faith healers was also normal. In High School, I started teaching myself numerology and astrology, and a sibling was influencing me with their interest in Eastern religion and philosophies; to this day I lean heavily towards Buddhist and Taoist trains of thought. My current belief system? Interfaith... I am a combination of Christianity, Eastern Philosophy, and Metaphysical viewpoints. In my later teens, I took up an insatiable yearning to discover what makes us all tick. I was going through a very challenging time and felt lost, hopeless, and completely confused by most humans and their behavior (including my own). I set out on my quest to understand the nature of the human beast in the self-help section of Barnes & Noble!; in that glorious section of books, I discovered two wonderful people - Dr. Wayne Dyer and Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Both of these men were life-changers for me, I am not sure I would have made it through what I was experiencing at that time without them! I am forever grateful for their wisdom and knowledge, as well as, my now life-long passion for the understanding of human behavior and the makings of the mind. I know all too well, from first-hand experience, what it is like to deal with esteem issues, confidence issues, a mind that tells you that you are not good enough, fear of failure, anxiety, emotional sensitivity, emotional immaturity, etc. When I was going through the hell of the aforementioned, we did not have the resources for help that we have today. My only real resource was books written by two great men. Their works guided me through the process of self-healing and transformation, keeping focus, keeping up the good fight, and keeping my eye on the prize! I had to do this work on my own, it was difficult and often daunting... I'd like to spare others the anguish if I can.It may seem like a long and difficult road to fixing a faulty mind, healing a broken spirit, and becoming resilient to the harshnesses of the world, however, it does not need to be, not anymore. With compassionate guidance from someone with the knowledge and techniques found in Mindset, Positive Psychology, and Spiritual coaching, overcoming the nuances we've discussed can be more like an exciting journey!
