Short term consulting engagement to develop curriculum regarding semantic interoperability in public health. Developing 4 modules for a continuing education course under a grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (the ONC). Topics include Introduction to semantic interoperability, The importance and current state of semantic interoperability in public health, HL7 standards and their importance to public health, and Vocabulary standards and their importance to public health.

Operationally responsible for adult ambulatory clinics including General Pulmonary, Cystic Fibrosis, Interstitial Lung Disease, Interventional Pulmonary, and Rheumatology employing 47 physicians, and 24 Nursing Department Employees. In this role, I was responsible for building team work in small practice specific teams incorporating a variety of skill levels. This role required collaboration with physicians, executive leadership and ancillary departments in order to be effective in managing physicians’ time and expertise with the goal of providing the high quality care that is expected at National Jewish Health. In this role, I was also responsible for facilitation of and participation in interdisciplinary teams to build standardized processes and efficient workflows. Specifically, I facilitated a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental task force to formulate a quality improvement project designed to select and implement best practice standards of communication within the electronic medical record. I was also instrumental in the process development and implementation of a quality initiative project designed to track lung nodules and ensure that follow up care is offered.Utilizing my skills and education in informatics, I was recognized as the subject matter expert (SME) for the clinic leadership team in informatics. In this role, I collaborated with the Information Systems group and ancillary departments in the implementation of process improvement projects impacting the adult clinic, including pilot projects, upgrades, and hardware replacement projects.

Responsible for daily operations of the clinic, cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and benefits administration. I created a policy and procedure manual for all components of the practice in order to document and train staff in current policies and procedures.As the information systems administrator, I provided leadership throughout the systems development life cycle of an integrated practice management system and patient portal, developing business requirements and ensuring that deliverables were documented and tracked. I was responsible for the maintenance and upgrades for all information systems as well as the development and maintenance of training materials. In this role, I became a strong mentor and trainer of staff across skill levels.As the billing and coding manager, I audited reimbursement of claims and restructured our billing procedures to add efficiency and accuracy. It was my responsibility to stay current on Medicare and Medicaid regulations that pertained to our practice and to make adjustments to our processes as required by changes in regulations.As the accounts payable representative, I revamped our accounts payable systems and implemented the use of quick books. I was able to prioritize payments to suppliers and repair damaged relationships with long-term vendors allowing the practice to reduce debt and restore the supply chain necessary to provide quality care.

Responsible for managing patient flow in order to optimize clinician time and provide quality care to patients. Managed inventory and ordering systems for medical supplies. Trained employees in back office procedures, computer systems, and general medical knowledge.In collaboration with providers and vendor, created and implemented computerized physician order entry system in ChartLogic medical records system. Created and implemented message templates for organizing information in patients’ electronic medical records.Logged payments from insurance companies to post to financial accounts. Responsible for claims follow up and appeals.
