I work as part of our Civic and Community Engagement Department where we manage diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives which include advocating for underrepresented groups. As our sole representative in Canada I work with partner organizations to support Women, Youth, Indigenous Peoples and New Canadians to access careers in the skilled electrical trades. At a national level, I work with our Local Unions across the country to build a more diverse talent pool pipeline for local union leadership. I run our national NextGen program which connects youth from all of the industries in which our members work. They build leadership skills and develop a better sense of community and civic activism. I also run our national Women's program which provides networking, training and leadership development. Both of these programs are complemented by in-person conferences and events along with virtual meetings. I work with a variety of stakeholders in the construction industry to advocate for cultural change and improve retention of underrepresented groups. My work includes education, policy changes and attention to language. I continue to build relationships with employers and organizations in the broad electrical sector with the goal of improving working conditions and greater equity for all Canadians. Show less
