I grew up a military brat and a competitive gymnast. Translation: I love relocating and I’m confident/stubborn. I oscillated between tv/film production (my chosen career path) and coaching gymnastics for many years. Then I had my first child. Then she got very sick as an infant. Then everything shifted and a new career path chose me.I put down permanent roots in central Ohio. Parenthood taught me to translate my confidence/stubbornness into advocacy. As my kids grew, my search for a school environment that would work for them led me to befriend others looking for something similar. And not finding it. So we gathered, and we dreamed and we planned and we opened a school. “If not us, then who?” became a mantra. I agreed to take on the administrator role and off we went. My current role engages many of my best qualities - infectious confidence, a strong sense of right and wrong, an ability to organize folks around a cause, passionate and effective communication skills, willingness to jump in wherever it’s needed (did I mention my janitorial duties?), small-business administration skills, and a natural desire for transparent and democratic systems.
