As a Pathologists' Assistant (PA) I analyze and dissect fresh tissue specimens received directly from the operating rooms for examination and diagnosis. I interact with surgeons and pathologists to work through the clinical and pathological patient history as well as direct the operation from the pathologic diagnosis at the time of operation. I perform dissection and prosection of hospital and forensic autopsy cases as well as evidence collection and required paper work such as; death certificate, provisional anatomic diagnosis and final anatomic diagnosis (after evaluation of glass slides). I am also responsible for teaching the pathology residents and PA students surgical and autopsy pathology techniques. I interact with surgeons and pathologists constructing and writing research projects and papers.

As an ASCP ambassador I promote careers in labaratory medicine (Pathologists' Assistants, Pathologists, Histotechnologist, Medical Technologists, Cytotechnologists, Phlebotomists, etc.) by speaking at high school and college classes as well as career fairs.

Teaching surgical pathology and autopsy to pathology residents, medical students (Mayo Clinic medical students and visiting medical students), and Pathologists' Assistant students (Quinnipiac University).
