You know how corporate folks wistfully say, "One day I will leave the corporate world and become a nonprofit leader"? (As if they think it will be easier? Hint - it's not!) Well, that is me. Except that's not the path I set out on.I have 25ish years of experience in the automotive industry. I began my corporate career as a part-time receptionist and ended it as the president of a talent management (staffing) consultancy. Along the way, I've held roles such as human resource manager, business administration director, vice president, corporate treasurer and president. I built tactical skills in HR, accounting/finance, organizational development, strategy, talent acquisition, operations, and so much more. I also fit in a bachelor's degree and MBA (all while doing my #1 job, being a mom to my kiddo).In 2018, I decided to leave corporate and pursue my dream of becoming an executive coach and organizational development consultant. I was happily on that path and working with some amazing clients when the Universe stepped in and opened a different door. I began volunteering in 2014 at an organization that is very close to my heart, Affirmations Community Center. A few years later I joined the board and eventually became the board president. And now, I am that organization's executive director. It was not the career path I saw for myself but it has been my most rewarding, and quite frankly, most challenging role yet! It also means I have been lucky enough to gain experience in for-profit, non-profit, and entrepreneurial roles. One more thing since I've got you - writing these bios is hard! It feels so braggy and yucky. When working with my career coaching clients this was always the hardest assignment I gave them! Please know that in my career there were lots of failures along the way, plenty of things I messed up. And, even though those mistakes might make a more interesting read, this is probably not the space for them. ;-) I encourage you to revisit your "about section" on LinkedIn and see where you could let a bit of your personality shine through (sorry, the executive coach in me had to give you a LI tip)!
