As an artist, I studied Creative Textiles through City & Guilds in the UK for 9 years and have been teaching art in some form or other for 15 years. I completed my final year of a Fellowship in Creative Textiles where the core of my work had a distinctly Australian focus:• Observation of place & immersion into the physical landscape: where the stories I experience gain a foothold in a culturally mystical landscape of my place and where expansive pieces bring the viewer into my world• Forming my understandings and conceptual views into a new frame of reference utilizing various tracers and physical elements of place• Pushing my materials beyond the accepted using techniques such as feltmaking, ink making, dyeing, painting, printing• The works are generally 1-4 metres 2D with one or two 3D double sided pieces. This will engage the ideas of vastness and dimension • Creating based on the potential of natural materials including vegetation, cotton, felt and other textiles letting pieces come together so that they express my great satisfaction in being connected to my place through my materials and designs. My Fellowship work is inspired by and about where we live and how it can be viewed in many ways.I am actively building my profile here in Australia while also continuing to explore my love of training and art application. I aim to empower people to fulfil their potential by giving them the tools and skills they need to release their inner creative self to support a fulfilling life.I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of engaging with new ideas which can lead to an intense period of research, development of techniques, workshops and discussion points that I use in facilitation and in consideration of the topic. I am to bring a positive relationship style to everything that I do to ensure that understanding, multiple viewpoints and expectations are well managed. A culmination of experiences has led me to refine a flexible attitude, a broad approach to problem solving and a committed intent to create positive change.

Artist - Textiles & FibreFreelance 2015 - PresentGippsland, Victoria, AustraliaI work with textiles & fibre that I dye, stitch and paint to produce artworks that make their own unique statements. My style is one where I explore innovation and where I can bring an imaginative application to a theme or topic. Unconstrained by common thinking about felt, textiles and media, I want my style to be distinctive, exciting and stimulating to viewers allowing them to explore with me the connections and experiences we all have in the world. My formal studies and teaching in felt-making and textiles, with an active engagement in the design process, have enhanced my work and taught me patience, acceptance and enjoyment in each part of the creative journey. The works I make connect me with an historical line of creation, linking me with the women artists who have gone before me. I am constantly inspired by this connection, together with the environment in which I live and the people whom I love.
