I have the privilege of serving on the Executive Team of this corporation and am responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the company along with assisting the company in meeting their strategic goals to ensure continued success and growth. I am also responsible for partnering with the bank for treasury and finance needs as well as secure adequate insurance, and oversee the audit and and all tax compliance.I joined SSM in 2019 and have seen a lot of progress and improved financial performance in the last 5 years. Sales, operating profit and gross margins have increased significantly. Cash flow has improved by accelerating collections and billing and paying off debt.It’s been a very rewarding time to see the growth that has taken place and move the company forward in various initiatives such as improved budgeting, tax analysis and KPI benchmarking.I enjoy working with the accounting staff in streamlining processes, managing the financial audit and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.I’ve learned a lot about the engineering sector in this role. I began my accounting career working for a large engineering company which has helped me better understand this industry. My 20+ years in public accounting has also given me a good background in working with various types of industries and people always with a goal of helping their businesses succeed.

In this role, I was responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and analysis and forecast reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and all tax compliance. I also supported Departmental Supervisors in accounting, human resources, payroll and financial matters. I worked with the external auditors, insurance brokers and the bank as well as the IT consultant. Lastly, I worked with the General Manager and Supervisors to prepare annual budgets and was responsible for implementation and adherence to internal controls.

In this position, I prepared Corporate, Non-Profit, and Individual federal, state, and local tax returns,tax research, planning, and consulting. I also managed audits of non-profits including planning,analytics, fieldwork and preparation of GAAP financial statements. In this temporary assignment role, I was responsible for documenting internal controls for compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley. I was also responsible for the development of work programs for various accounting cycles.

My last position was assisting the Tax Manager with federal, multi-state, and local tax return compliance including the preparation of a consolidated federal tax return.
