I began working for Macmillan Learning in one of its smaller companies, Sapling Learning, in December 2014. As Sapling has become more integrated with Macmillan Learning, I’ve had the pleasure of writing, editing, illustrating, and animating for eBooks held by Macmillan Learning. These include topics in genetics, organic chemistry, general chemistry, biochemistry, ecology, and environmental science. I’m currently producing video tutorials on mathematical subjects for Ricklefs and Miller’s Ecology text. This project utilizes my broad range of skills and includes producing the storyboard, script, animation, voiceover, and assessment questions for each video tutorial.

My role at Sapling Learning, which is under the larger umbrella of Macmillan Learning, has evolved since I began working with Sapling in 2014. I began as a content writer for Sapling’s Genetics course and then, worked as a content editor for the same course. As this project began winding down in the late spring of 2015, Sapling’s Art Team was in need of an additional illustrator. I was brought onto the Art Team as a scientific illustrator and have continued to work on Sapling’s Art Team as both a scientific illustrator and animator and have had the great pleasure of creating art work for several of Sapling’s interactive labs. In addition, I’ve written and edited within Sapling’s authoring system for several of Macmillan Learning’s text book titles, including Genetics (Pierce), Biochemistry (Lehninger), and Ecology (Karr).
