In Dec 2019 she received the RPT Volunteer of the Year for 2019/2020.Cheryl retired in 2006 as a Commissioner of the Port of Houston Authority -only the third woman to serve as a commissioner since 1909. She served as Chairman of the Small Business Development Program, Small Business Task Force, Cruise Task Force and Pilot Task Force. She has served on the Port’s Employee Pension Committee, the PHA International Corporation- Board and as a Commissioner of the Pilot’s Board. Cheryl is the retired CEO of Warren Electric, a $315 million revenue woman owned enterprise that distributed products through locations in 4 states and 4 foreign countries. Warren was the largest woman owned business in Houston and the third largest in Texas. The company was sold in 2002. Past President of Miss Rodeo Texas & and past Chairman of Theatre Under the Stars, Cheryl was appointed by Tx Gov Rick Perry’s to The Economic Development Task Force and Governor’s Business Council.She is currently or has served in board positions for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (lifetime Director), Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital, Arthritis Foundation of Texas, Boys' and Girls’ Country, Greater Houston Partnership, Super Bowl XXXVIII, Hugh O’Brian’s Youth Leadership, Junior Achievement, United Way, Miss Rodeo America National Advisory Council, Veterans Appreciation Day , Rise Up for Life, Gabriel Project and other organizations. She also served on the University of Houston Chancellor’s National Advisory Council.
