The International Transportation Specialist has the primary responsibility of day to day international transportation operations. Arrange and monitor transportation for all international orders. Track ocean containers to ensure timely shipment. Communicate with internal and external logistics contacts to improve international shipment efficiency. Develop long-term strategies and solutions for International Logistics and Distribution. Report on sailings timeliness, compliance, and cost efficiencies.

Researched data on freight bills to see if any vendors had committed any routing violations in shipping their products to this company. Each vendor had annual Routing Guide that was sent out for them to follow, and if any violations occurred I created chargebacks to that vendor to recoup moneys lost. This involved entering the data into an Access database which kept a running account of each vendors violation activity. I also ran detailed queries requested by corporate on specific vendors to see the dollar amount of violations for any period of time for that year. Answered incoming phone calls from our stores that had a problem with a driver or shipment. Also covered secretary's desk when she had to be out.

Was the main backup on our Transportation 800 phone line. This consisted of answering calls from our stores on any discrepancies or complaints they may have had on their shipments. All calls were finished to completion or were researched further and then customer was given a prompt call back with an answer. Also did the daily Bills of lading, ran a weekly Carton Summary report, and did a weekly report on the Carriers to see the type of service that they were providing the company.
