I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2015 with a major in Environmental Science. I chose this path because I am passionate about the environment and the relationship humans have to nature. It is my goal to help individuals and organizations conduct themselves in a way that balances economic growth and environmental sustainability. My education taught me to be a problems solver, to consider situations from many different angles, and to never underestimate the complexity of an issue. I started my career at the Missouri Division of Energy (DE) in 2016. I served as an Energy Specialist in the Energy Efficiency group. My primary focus was educating on energy efficiency topics as they relate to residential housing. As part of this, I received a Building Analyst certification through the Building Performance Institute and developed an accredited continuing education course for real estate professionals discussing efficiency, building science principles, financing opportunities, and agent resources. I moved to the Policy group within the DE in 2017. In this role, I serve primarily as a project manager. In January 2019, I undertook the management of a $343,500 federal grant that was competitively awarded to the DE by the U.S. Department of Energy. The funds were awarded to enable the development of the Roadmap to Resilience – a collection of resources and a six-step process that assists small- to medium-sized communities with resilience planning. I directed the work of three contracted agencies and six cost share partners, and facilitated the participation of three partner communities and myriad stakeholders. Despite challenges relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, we successfully completed the project on schedule, within budget, and without sacrificing the quality of our deliverables.More recently I have begun work on the Missouri State Energy Planning process, which I had an integral role in designing. I oversee the organization and timeliness of the process in addition to engaging stakeholders, supporting initiative development, writing reports, and facilitating brainstorming working groups. Additional duties I enjoy include acting as the DE's legislative liaison during session, which involves reviewing fiscal notes, attending House and Senate committee hearings, and listening in on floor debates. I also support the DE's energy security activities under Emergency Support Function-12 (energy).
