Level 2 Reserve participates in career development sessions with an advisors to establish a personalized program. Following the career development session, the candidate will meet with a Reserve Firefighter mentor on a quarterly basis to monitor progress.Expectation to complete either the ACFD Reserve Task Book ( Level 2 ) or a recognized California State Fire Marshall ( SFM ) FireFighter 1 Academy. The Level 2 Reserve will be expected to complete Emergency Medical Technician-1 Certification The Level 2 Reserve will be expected to establish a fitness and physical training program in preparation for the CPAT.The Level 2 Reserve will complete a medical evaluation including: SCBA spirometry medical evaluation. The Level 2 Reserve will attend Reserve Program meetings informing members of upcoming community events and opportunities. Participation in public education events and sanctioned Reserved Firefighter social functions. The candidate may participate in training drills for the purpose of completing the ACFD Reserve Task Book. Accumulation in hours of participation shall be at least 12 hours per month.

CERT instructor delivers the CERT Basic Training course accurately, conveying the messages and intent of the CERT Program (e.g., safety, teamwork, place in overall community emergency operations plan), assuring participants achieve the objectives of the CERT Basic Training course. Instruction delivers training that's effective and at an appropriate level, thus enabling participants to learn and correctly apply skill sets, creating a comfortable yet managed learning environment .Presentations prepared by CERT instructor recaps the key points with training videos that are relevant to the unit. CERT instructor reviews the hands-on activities: the purpose of them, and what latitude an instructor has to adapt them. CERT instructor will review how to do the exercise correctly, using video when available and always using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and emphasizing safety. CERT instructor and participants discuss how this unit connects to the other units of the CERT Basic Training course.
