At Unity College I work closely with students in the EAL department and focus on further developing their speaking, listening, reading and writing. I prepare and teach intervention session to small groups of students from a variety of different countries and who speak a range of languages. My role includes planning and delivering organized and useful intervention sessions to students who are working on developing their English further as an additional language.

At Sir John Thursby I work with a small department of staff who work extremely hard and go the extra mile for the over 100 pupils who need EAL support. EAL pupils are from a variety of different countries including, Pakistan, Bulgaria, Philippines, Afghanistan, Spain and many more, who speak a variety of 30 languages, including but not limited to, Tagalog, Punjabi, and Romanian. These pupils are dedicated and passionate about learning the English language due to their unique and difficult circumstances transition from their home country to the UK and learning a new language. We teach small group classes in order to provide the most attention and help to these pupils to assist them in their mainstream learning and prepare them for their GCSEs. Using CPG books to teach basic English and sentence building and also other creative lessons to help them enjoy learning english as it can be frustrating and difficult learning another language and moving to another country. My role is extremely rewarding and i enjoy planning lessons and helping my pupils grow their knowledge and as individuals.

Rotherwood Recruitment provided me with so many great schools and opportunities in many schools including, Pendle Vale, Blessed Trinity, Unity College, and Sir John Thursby. At this time I invigilated for GCSE exams and covered a variety of lessons and GCSE classes and worked as a teaching assistant across these schools. During this time I got a long term placement at Sir John Thursby working closely with SEN and EAL pupils adapting the lessons and work to their ability in order for them to gain full advantage of learning.

GSL provided me with excellent experiences and knowledge to improve and develop my teaching skills. During my time with GSL I worked for the Hull and Manchester agency and in multiple schools.At first I covered classes at Woldgate School and Sixth Form College and Manor Church of England Academy teaching a variety of lessons and year groups ages 11-16. After only a few days covering at these schools I gained the privilege of a permanent placement Vale of York Academy where I worked alongside a handful of SEN pupils, assisting them with the lesson and helping them enjoy and learn in lessons.I moved back to my hometown and transferred to GSL Manchester agency and gained valuable experience at Beaumont Primary School for boys with SEN. I worked in a class of 7 boys aging 7-11 with mixed abilities and needs, in between lesson we did a variety of creative activities like baking, painting, and sensory time where the children could have 10 minutes engaging with the many sensory items in the class room. we also took the class on trips weekly to, Monkey Play Land, Rossendale Ski, Gulivers World, and many more places.

During COVID-19 pandemic I worked as an admin assistant along side a nurse who would administer the COVID vaccine. I would assist patients to the office and take their personal details and ask a variety of healthcare questions before the nurse provides them with the vaccine. Then the patients would wait for 15 minutes before letting them leave to ensure they were ok from the vaccine, providing water and comfort if they didn’t feel very well.

Filmore and Union was located in York train station, at platform 3 and 8. Serving customers quickly and efficiently was extremely important as our customer always were rushing off to be somewhere. I gained new skills as a barista, learning latte art and about gluten free and vegan products. I was made redundant in July 2020 due to COVID-19.

Developing the skills I acquired at Greggs, I prepared and cooked the food, served customers and handled money, restocking the fridges and cleaning the restaurant and kitchen. Taco Bell is extremely popular and constantly full with customers, the fast pace environment allowed me to multitask quickly.

Excellent customer service was extremely important at Greggs as our main clientele was elderly people who required extra care and time. At Greggs I worked all roles, preparing and cooking pastries and sandwiches, serving customers and handling money, restocking the fridges and cleaning the whole bakery.

My biggest achievement at Aroma restaurant was creating the cocktail menu, my main role was making drinks and making sure they arrive at the correct table. I developed knowledge of all the drinks and ordered the stock. During open hours I would also greet the customers as the bar is at the entrance of the restaurant and clean the restaurant when we closed.

My hours at Mode allowed me to adapt to a fast pace and long shifts as I worked from 12am until 8am. I mostly worked on the bar however when short staffed I worked as a shot girl and cleaned once the club had closed. My reason for leaving was the extremely long hours and I wanted to focus more on my A-levels as I began applying for university.

The Oaks Hotel has over 200 rooms and is one of the oldest and biggest hotels in Burnley. I perfected my skills in professionalism and intuition, hosting weddings, business meetings and more throughout the week and weekend, whilst maintaining rooms and the happiness of guests. Serving food and drinks and setting up for functions and hotel guests were my main roles.

Waitressing for Burnley Football Club stadium was my first job. I gained confidence and learned how to serve food and drinks, quickly cleaning in between match breaks and preparing for service again.
