I've been working with the youth demographic within the Indigenous community of Toronto for over eight (8) years now. I started as a peer mentor delivering programming intended to create awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS. This led me to start digging deeply into harm reduction practices. It also started my love of youth councils and programming created by youth for youth. I am not currently a formally educated individual in this field. I've climbed the ladder, if you will, with nothing but guts, lived experience and effort. I believe at the very least that youth needed to see another youth aged person making it in unconventional ways while trying to create opportunities to break into my industry. It's been rewarding to be remembered by youth as they age and return to programming from time to time.
