Profile bio

About Cheyenne Barr

I am at once a project manager, an operations coordinator, a marketing specialist, and an events producer with a history of taking care of business. Most of the positions I've held have been in creating or upholding the comprehensive management for nonprofit, startup, and higher education settings. In each industry I've excelled at teaching myself as I go, and enjoyed juggling the management of the micro and macro for all operations and programs. I have a natural tendency to throw myself into projects and hold myself to a high level of integrity, owning programs as my own. I keep a creative yet humble approach to the work I do and have been known to introduce surprise accents of humor and community building into my collaborations with others. I thoroughly enjoy the people that I work with and proudly keep a healthy balance of appreciation for others and get-it-done attitude. I love working with my hands and spend my personal days at the pottery wheel, carving and whittling reclaimed wood, or making complicated meals at home.I love positions that offers both systemic management and on-the-ground coordination. Events management has been at the core of my passion since my college days organizing events and peaking interest from the community for issues I believe in. I have organized hundreds of events from panel discussions and meetings with under a dozen participants to hands on workshops and political marches with over 50,000 participants.

Listed skills include Event Planning, Project Management, Publicity And Marketing, Community Outreach, and 26 others.

Swap-O-Rama-Rama

Swap-o-Rama-Rama is at once a clothing swap and crafty upcycling meetup year round, and annually a massive dynamic creative eco-event that lives inside of the Bay Area Maker Faire in May. My contribution has been as the Volunteer Coordinator, who organizes and then leads all volunteer efforts (which are all efforts) for putting on the major event at Maker Faire. Volunteers average to about 15 at any given moment, and around 150 total through the entire event. The event includes 5-7 workshops going on simultaneously, free clothing piles and organization, a fashion show, 20 sewing machines and support personnel teaching sewing basics, a hand-build station, and a speakers lounge lecture series. I estimate that somewhere around 15,000 people participated in our offering at Maker Faire, whether through watching the fashion show, swapping clothes, trying a workshop, or learning to (re)make with textiles.
