About Cheyenne Smith

Hello! I'm Cheyenne, a soon-to-be graduate in Political Science with advance coursework in research methods and statistics and lots of experience in entertainment and communications. My passion for visual storytelling and themed entertainment drives me to explore diverse creative fields including graphic design, video production, and data visualization. In the Fall of 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to work as a Character Attendant for the Disney College Program. This experience profoundly enhanced my storytelling skills and provided invaluable insight into the operations of themed entertainment. It was immensely rewarding to be a part of creating magic for others and witnessing the joy it brings.Currently, I work as a Communications Assistant (part of my library's inaugural class of communications assistants), where I've been instrumental in tripling digital student engagement with my team. This role has honed my skills in producing print and digital content, leveraging industry research, and utilizing creative software like Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Through data-driven decisions and trend experimentation, I’ve successfully enhanced our digital presence and engagement. In addition to my role at the library, I serve as the President of PRIDE at AU, where I lead a dynamic team in advocating for queer rights and fostering inclusive spaces on campus. This position has strengthened my leadership abilities and allowed me to manage projects, budgets, and events effectively. My diverse experiences extend to working as an Administrative Assistant for both the History Department and the Bender Library ILL Team, in addition to serving as the VP for AU BIPOC Scholars. These roles have enriched my organizational skills and deepened my commitment to connecting with people and communities. As a lifelong learner with a vivid imagination, I also freelance as a video editor, working on documentaries, podcasts, and vlogs. My current project, inspired by my documentary "The Puppet Co: All Puppets. What a Shame.", involves documenting the creation of an original puppet of mine—a tribute to my admiration for the Muppets and Jim Henson.Looking ahead, I am excited about opportunities in graphic design, marketing, and project management. My ultimate goal is to contribute to designing theme parks or live entertainment experiences, blending my love for storytelling with creative innovation.Feel free to connect with me—I’m always eager to discuss new ideas and opportunities in themed entertainment and beyond!
