I acted as the technical lead in an operations monitoring team, providing tools and solutions to other technical teams across the bank.My tasks included developing web based applications or services to facilitate the collection and transfer of data, and designing visual dashboards to allow administration of existing monitoring platforms.I built a monitoring and notification system to monitor the largest trading platform in Australia (CommSec), providing early warning detection with SMS & Email notification on component failure and clean visual displays for management and engineers to view real time data.I wrote scripts and applications every day to handle various tasks and to automate manual procedures, alleviating work loads for multiple teams.

A small IT department meant I was able to be hands-on with all areas of IT at this job. I specialized in network engineering, but also built web applications for external clients to interact with our internal systems.I was also the key technical resource in the department and responsible for managing the Citrix, NetIQ and Server infrastructure.I had significant exposure to PABX programming and various intrusion detection systems. I wrote a web based flight booking application that was used as a means to receive and manage clients bookings without the need to discuss via email or phone.
