Working for Airbus on behalf of Atos Origin, I had fun developing simulators used for validating software to be run on Airbus A380 calculators. By hooking on the main arteries of the Linux kernel, a colleague and me have implemented a full ARINC653 API, allowing to test, in near real-time, software written for still to come A380 calculators.After the first success, we wrote a second version 100% user-space using real-time POSIX threads, the result was 100% functional (but didn't cover the full specs), unsurprisingly, the timing performance had not been met.

I worked on the HW design of a system for controlling appliances and offering services to passengers of a cruiser ship. The system was based on a DSP, a PowerPC and a Gigabit ethernet switch, to provide telephony, video and various automation and control of passenger's roomI have also ported the linux kernel to this PowerPC based system, wrote drivers for loading firmware into and communicating with the DSP.
