Chhavi is consulting for Living Waters Museum (India) and Musee de l'eau (Burkina Faso) for the development of multidisciplinary 'Water Classrooms' to enable middle school students in Burkina Faso to develop an integrated and ethical understanding of their waters."

I conduct interactive workshops for undergraduate students and students in classes 6-8 in water literacy and molecular biology. The workshops may culminate in art exhibitions.

Leading the development of water classrooms for middle school students and setting up an exhibition of learning.Digital exhibition - Punyache paaniCo-curated Punyache Paani - a digital exhibition - at the Living Waters Museum launched in March 2022. The exhibition explores waters of Pune from an interdisciplinary lens towards building a holistic and ethical water stewardship. It is a collaborative effort with diverse partners from across this bustling city - architects, urban planners, water professionals, NGOs, artists and PhD scholars and faculty advisors from IISER Pune.

• Explored the presence of active membrane protein synthesis machinery in singular isolated giant axons of squid (Dosidicus gigas, Loligo pealei). • Studied the mRNA and miRNA composition and RNA editing in different tissues of squid giant axon and optic systems using RNA-seq.

Initiated the molecular biology and biochemistry sections for conducting experiments such as nucleic acid isolation, single cell analyses, ribosome purification, translation assays and click chemistry-based experiments using squid, Loligo pealei. Also managed lab resources. Worked here in summer and autumn months in 2016 and 2017.

Laboratorio de Fisiologia Celular - This laboratory has historically studied squid (Dosidicus gigas) neurophysiology. I set up the molecular biology and biochemistry experimentation. I obtained RNA and DNA from giant axon system and optic system of squid for next generation sequencing. I also carried out protein purification from optic nerves and click-chemistry based assays. Worked 2-6 weeks every year during these four years.

 Characterized the functional modulation of PVBV-encoded Nuclear Inclusion-a protease (NIa-Pro) by post-translational phosphorylation and interaction with virus-encoded Viral Protein genome-linked (VPg) (studied using high performance liquid chromatography (HLPC)-based protease assay and mutational analyses). Explored structural changes and the novel ATPase activity in the intrinsically disordered VPg upon interaction with NIa-Pro (studied using biophysical techniques, thin layer chromatography (TLC) radioactivity-based assays and mutational analysis). Characterized the heterogeneity demonstrated by Tobacco streak virus (TSV) virions by studying structural and biochemical features of virus‐like particles (VLPs) formed by heterologously expressed TSV coat protein, using preparative ultracentrifugation and electron microscopy. Several sequence motifs and molecular interactions were examined using deletion analysis.

Dept. of Food and Environmental Sciences, Viiki Campus - Analyzed - phosphorylation status of Pepper Vein Banding Virus (PVBV) proteins.Initiated construction of infectious cDNA for PVBV.

Dept. of Protein Chemistry and Technology - Purified in vitro synthesized peptides using preparative reverse phase-HPLC. Worked here periodically in 2 week blocks.

Studied the modulation of interferon γ, intreleukin-12 and interleukin-18 receptors in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis using flow cytometry and RT-PCR.
