I did my clinical rotation in the hospital medicine department where I rotated with clinicians in different teams like the hospitalist cardiology service, orthopedic hospitalist co-management service, intermediary care service, teaching service and the general hospitalist service. I was involved with patient care with hands on clinical experience where I interacted with patients, did history and physical examination, presented the case to my attending physician and helped in preparation of patient notes. I had access to electronic medical records under supervision and I got well acquainted with the "EPIC" system. I participated in morning reports in internal medicine department. In the teaching team I worked with internal medicine residents and medical students and learnt from them about patient management, bedside skills and case presentation skills. I was involved in the inter-department huddles and could learn about the role of social workers, case managers and nurses in patient care.

As a government appointed medical officer I was responsible for the health care of the whole district as well as some areas of neighboring two districts. I was involved in out-patient clinic managing about 25-30 patients per day, in-patient department looking after our 25 bed general ward, minor surgical procedures, simple obstetric procedures and also as an administrator of the hospital. I was also involved in training and educating other health professionals like Health Assistant (HA), Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Community Medical Assistant (CMA). I was also involved in community visits to different remote areas in the district as a part of a mobile camp providing services such as immunization, health education, family planning services, pre-natal care, uterovaginal prolapse evaluation and referral and all out-patient services. I was directly responsible for the health of about 200,000 residents of the district.
