This research investigates the effect of soil contamination on the structure and function of twoco-occurring poplar species in Liberty State Park, NJ, a contaminated brownfield.As heavy metals impact function of plants, we hypothesized that under high metal loading thepoplar species (quaking aspen and cottonwood) would have lower water use efficiencies than underlow metal load.
