I worked on a wide range of projects from residential gardens to ecological restoration projects. This taught me how to effectively work with and be inspired by other professionals. Being a small company I worked closely with others which allowed me to delegate the workload amongst the team to meet clients demands.

Thrust headfirst in the highly demanding working environment of Singapore was a challenging but rewarding experience. This meant I had to consistently complete high-quality work under pressure. The enthusiasm and passion of my supervisors for their craft and their constant initiatives for me to learn pushed the limits of my design philosophy. This helped me to develop a strong work ethic and design ethos.

As I was given more responsibilities and contributions to projects I learned how to adapt my design approaches to meet client demands and deadlines. With the inclusion of a budget I had to modify my process to meet the quota and communicate my ideas clearly while supporting my designs with logical reasoning as to why it would work. I worked with architects and engineers which refined how I communicated concepts and ideas.

During my first few weeks in a landscape firm I gave an insight into of how projects were carried out in a real world setting. By working alongside experienced individuals I realized what was most important in a project as I spent time adjusting myself to the fast pace work life.

Working on site scales from private to public gardens and investing myself physically with the landscape gave me an understanding on-site scales and planting needs. Through involvement in the processes of the before and after I also had a much better appreciation of what a well-designed landscape can do.
