During my six-month internship, I conducted research on Wi-SUN FAN (Field Area Network), a wireless networking technology for large-scale applications. My primary objective was to develop solutions to reduce node-to-node latencies in RPL-based (Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks) networks. This involved extensive simulation, performance evaluation, and optimization, all while ensuring a low RF footprint and maintaining the self-healing properties of the network.Throughout this experience, I:- Acquired deep knowledge in wireless communication technologies, particularly RPL and Wi-SUN FAN.- Developed and ran simulations to test and evaluate latency reduction strategies.- Collaborated with experts from Institut Mines-Télécom and Silicon Labs, strengthening my teamwork and problem-solving skills.- Improved my ability to present complex technical findings by delivering weekly progress reports, enhancing my communication and presentation abilities.- Gained a strong understanding of real-world applications, specifically in improving communication between urban infrastructure, such as streetlights.This internship provided a platform to not only refine my technical skills but also broaden my understanding of the research process in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
