As a young scientist, I am driven by a profound curiosity to explore the complex cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying human disease, especially cancers. Towards this, my Masters project is aimed at understanding the role of unique PRIM2 mutations on the incidence of aggressive prostate cancer within Sub-Saharan Africa. My strength lies in biomedical research, with practical experience in tissue culture, gene editing and sequencing, molecular cloning, cellular assays, immunoblotting, PCR, and data analysis using bioinformatic techniques. Furthermore, my time at the ICGEB has shown me that I thrive in dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and multi-cultural environments, as I believe that the opportunity to learn – or develop new ideas – is strongest when faced with challenging and diverse perspectives. Outside academia, I enjoy trail running, rock climbing, and baking. In my spare time, I volunteer as an educator at SHAWCO Health, a student-led organization dedicated to addressing healthcare and welfare issues relevant to the Capetonian context through community engagement and empowerment.Whether it's contributing to medical research, collaborating on innovative projects, or engaging in meaningful outreach, I am deeply passionate about making a tangible impact towards solving pressing medical and global health challenges.
