During my internship at the Baldi and Riberi Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at Molinette Hospital, I conducted a research project focused on improving the clinical understanding of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity in newborns and children. The primary goal of my work was to define reference values for G6PD activity, which can be crucial in diagnosing conditions such as G6PD deficiency, with potential clinical implications for pediatric patient management. This project formed the foundation of my bachelor’s thesis, titled “Clinical utility of determining glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity: proposal of reference values in newborns and children.”
