For over 22 years, I have dedicated my professional career to communications and public service. I possess a firm understanding and keen grasp of how to strategically deliver complex information to broad based groups. My core strengths as a writer, media relations specialist, show host and producer, mentor/adjunct professor and thought leader, all afford me the opportunity to stay abreast of current trends in the ever evolving communications, public information and public relations industries offering authentic engagement to each sector. In my previous role as the Acting Director of Public Information for the Birmingham City Council, I served the public by branding the latest developments in the legislative branch of government through internal and external media platforms such as civic engagement video presentations and voice-overs, press releases, social media campaigns, feature articles, community leadership forums, live broadcast streaming via Facebook and Tri-Caster systems and the Birmingham City Council website all while leading and mentoring through the Birmingham City Council Internship Institute.I later served in the judicial branch of government leading Public Relations for the City of Birmingham’s Municipal Court, the largest municipal court in the State of Alabama. I had the opportunity to lead the external communications platform by developing and implementing public relations campaigns designed to create, maintain and enhance favorable public image and awareness of an array of governmental programs and agencies, especially those geared to reduce recidivism.After serving nearly 12 years for the City of Birmingham, I currently serve in the role of Public Relations Coordinator, as well as Assistant to the County Manager for the Jefferson County Commission. In this role, I work to creatively distribute vital messaging and information to promote civic engagement through various media including special event video and photography, podcast show host and editing, departmental docu-series campaigns, video reel storytelling and video editing. Adding value is my continued priority as a leader, as I remain coachable, offer insight, expertise and different techniques on delivering exceptional communications and service to the citizens of Jefferson County.
