I have worked with the Liminal team on leading: - the initial information management and communication of the project, which included: crafting the initial messaging of the initiative (and identity, and what we wanted to communicate!), communication identity, brochures, templates for use, aesthetic identity, managing press requests, establishing external and internal messaging, communication platforms, enhancing advocacy, identifying communication partnerships, etc;- leading students on assessing the possibilities and challenges of including temporary asylum seekers in Italy in locations where there is abundant available housing; - co-leading a survey initiative to collect data regarding climate change in rural Italy, in order to ensure that the voices of small towns are also factored into policies, particularly related to the EU and climate change (as currently most of the data that exists only applies to big towns/cities).

Responsibilities related to Humanitarian-Military Interaction (HMI) include but are not limited to: - Designing the onboarding programme for new staff; - Onboarding new staff to the team; - Emergency surge deployment as a first-wave responder (as required). Including: Haiti Earthquake response in 2020 (coordinating +50 MT of humanitarian cargo on military assets to hard-to-reach areas) and mentoring junior staff on first-wave deployment;- Acting as the staffing coordinator for the function/global team (responsible for managing the functional roster, interviews, candidate selection, ensuring career progression, overseeing emergency staff hiring and deployments, etc); - Coordinating and assigning tasks for the HQ team; - Managing, training and mentoring junior staff; - Providing technical expertise/operational support to field staff; - Drafting technical guidelines relevant to the function, templates, training modules, etc. - Managing the budget of the team; - Fostering the professionalization of the (new) HMI function, in terms of HR/team growth, products produced, knowledge management, etc. - Organizing global team retreats/events;- Co-designing the HMI training launched in 2023; - Co-facilitating/training the HMI training during various iterations. Responsibilities related to my work as a more general Emergency Preparedness & Response Officer in the Field Support Unit are focused on monitoring protracted or emerging crises in West Africa and coordinating with the relevant WFP offices to identify what resources and actions may be required by them.

Responsibilities included but were not limited to: - Coordinating senior and technical missions within and outside of Ukraine; - Supporting executive management on day-to-day issues and management of the Ukraine operation (and neighboring countries), from internal staffing issues to key engagement with external partners (press, donors, etc) to supporting the design of the WFP presence in-country; - Ensuring coordination, advocacy and communication between Ukraine & the other 5 countries where WFP had established temporary presence (Poland, Hungary, Moldova, etc);- Managing key partnerships and donor relationships as required by executive management.

Visiting Scholar at the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Study at the Watson Institute for Public and International Affairs, specifically looking at humanitarian response and civil-military coordination research. Responsibilities included: preparing lectures on humanitarian studies (conflict studies, etc) and humanitarian response, co-teaching independent study programmes, mentoring students for specific events (hackathons) and holding office hours.

Programme Officer for Hurricane Dorian response on the Abacos - Co-lead of Emergency Support Function 11 (Food Security); - Advocacy and managing partnerships on food security for needs of the affected population on the islands; - Technical capacity support to the Government on food security and food distributions; - Coordination of food distribution plans for NEMA in-kind commodities for Abacos; - Design & lead a multi-partner Vulnerability Needs Assessment across the island and cays that surveyed +4000 people in 3 days;- Roll-out of a cash-based transfer programme on Abaco island.

As an Operations Officer working within the Front Office of the Senior Director of Operations, my duties were included but not limited to: - Acting as a liaison between the Senior Director and WFP senior management in the field/field offices requiring support on specific operational challenges; - Monitoring WFP operations and global trends to ensure awareness on arising challenges and potential risks; - Ensuring follow-up actions required by the Senior Director or by the Emergencies or Supply Chain division and relevant implementation plans were established for operations undergoing a specific scale up (either for the Kasai Ebola response, Venezuela, or other operations).- Providing regular updates to senior management on high-level WFP operations.

TDY (temporary deployment) to Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela as Programme, Logistics or Civil-military coordination officer - depending on the context and needs on the ground/gaps within the teams. Duties included but were not limited to: - Cross-border needs assessments of Venezuelan migrants crossing into other countries; - Contributing to food prepositioning efforts for the response; - Ensuring adequate preparedness actions - of all functions - were in place for a potential response;- Drafting the first contingency plans and programmatic options for different scenarios of a response; - Coordination of staff surge plan for the first wave responders;- High-level negotiation support (talking point, briefs, etc) with donors, partners, etc.

Responsibilities included but were not limited to: - Ensuring the day-to-day functioning of the Front Office; - Overseeing the Front Office budget; - Monitoring global and arising risks to WFP operations, to ensure the Senior Director's awareness and advising on ways forward;- Writing in-depth analyses and news briefs on topics of concern to the Senior Director;- Identifying potential new partnerships relevant for the Senior Director to explore, for the Emergencies and Supply Chain divisions; - Supporting inter-agency efforts (particularly on pandemics/with WHO) lead by the Senior Director;- Drafting strategies, workplans and key performance indicators for the Senior Director and the Front Office, and ensuring integration with the relevant divisions; - Ensuring tracking and follow up of action points required by the Senior Director; - Coordinating high-level missions for the Senior Director; - Representing the Senior Director at meetings, when required;- Supporting the Senior Director on duty travel; - Emergency surge deployment to affected countries, as required.

Regional emergency preparedness coordinator for the Sahel countries vis a vis the 2018 lean season. Duties included, but were not limited to: - Overseeing the cross-functional preparedness actions required to be in place for the drought response, within the required timelines;- Acting as the team lead for cross-functional support missions to affected countries; - Being the technical counterpart for advocacy & liason with Governments, donors and partners related to the drought response; - Overseeing & coordinating resource mobilization efforts for the Sahel countries preparing to respond to the lean season; - Coordinating the deployment of surge staff; - Information management (talking points, briefs, advocacy papers, etc) for operational documents, contingency plans and senior management (for high-level visits/events).

Emergency Preparedness & Support, in the Emergency Preparedness Division, with responsibilities including but not limited to:- Civil-military coordination (strategic partnerships, simulation exercises, technical guidance);- Inter-agency coordination, with a specific focus on WFP's engagement in Programme Criticality; - Cash based transfers support focused on emergency operations (and representing emergencies at cross-functional forums on CBT);- Emergency surge deployment & capacity; - Information Management.

Responsibilities included: - Supporting the Front Office of the Director of Emergencies (the position was part of the Front Office); - Supporting the Director and Deputy Director of Emergencies, as required, with talking points, briefs, etc. - Supporting the Head of Civil Military coordination in military simulations, civil-military coordination partnerships, drafting of legal documents, analysis, etc. - Supporting the Civil Military Coordination working group and ensuring adequate follow up of pending actions, follow up points, etc. - Acting as interim Special Assistant to the Director of Emergencies, in absence of the person/as required.

Responsible for: - Information management related to the Yemen Logistics Cluster operation, between Djibouti and Yemen (including ongoing reporting, operational updates, high-level briefs/talking points, infographics, etc) for the Logistics Cluster and its partners. - Overseeing humanitarian passenger sea transport from Djibouti to Aden;- Interim logistics coordination (manifests, clearances, etc) for facilitation of sea and air transport of humanitarian cargo from Djibouti to Yemen during the cholera response upscale.

Responsible for: - Identifying and recruiting new members/contributors; - Contributing articles for the blog;- Editing articles/pieces submitted by new members; - Maintaining/editing the blog/webpage.The Global Oyster is a an international affairs blog that I co-founded with Laura Zuffi in 2013, as a part-time/self-employed venture. The impetus for the blog was the realization that many of my peers and I were employed - at the time- by journalisms, magazines, etc, in different fields, and if we could write pieces for other platforms, why not write pieces for our own platform too? The blog covered a variety of topics all related to international relations, foreign affairs, daily news, economic trends, diplomacy, etc.

Responsible for: - Monitoring and analyzing global trends relevant to global geopolitics; - Drafting news articles and editorial in-depth pieces regarding specific global trends and events; - Editing articles, as required.

The Diplomatic Courier is a global affairs magazine that connects the diplomatic and policy establishment to the next generation of leaders in diplomacy and foreign policy. Themes such as conflict resolution, international affairs, peace-building and rule of law are at the focus of the magazine, and are the topics that I cover in my articles. The Diplomatic Courier is an independent publication both in its voice and its organization. Publishing opinions from all political spectrums, the Courier adheres to the ideals of freedom of expression, individualism, and fair and balanced journalism.
