I’m Chidimma Ozor Commer, PhD, LMSW, founder of Chidimma Ozor Consulting. With over 25 years of experience as a social justice advocate, licensed clinical social worker, therapist, and educator, I am dedicated to fostering inclusive and equitable environments across various sectors. My work spans from guiding police departments and businesses through essential conversations on diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging to helping nonprofits and educational institutions implement anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices. To that end, my private therapy practice focuses on the mental health needs of Black women, Black folks, and LGBTQ+ community members. My background as a social science researcher and healthcare professional informs my approach to creating meaningful, impactful change. I hold a PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in Global Inclusion and Social Development and an MSW degree from the University of Michigan School of Social Work, complemented by degrees in Organizational Studies and Liberal Studies from the same institution. My research interests include self-care among social workers, white saviorism in social responsibility contexts, transracial adoption, climate preparedness from the perspective of People of the Global Majority (PGM) in Boston and surrounding areas, and the dynamics between Black and white women.My colleagues would describe me as an authentic, driven, passionate, and resourceful collaborator who maintains an honest, yet positive attitude despite the heaviness of the work.
