Communication Liaison for Union Co. Fire & Law Agencies to the MARCS Program Office & surrounding agenicies

As a firefighter/EMT I respond to fires, hazardous material, and other lift-threatening incidents. Ventilate buildings, and areas of hostile environment, remove persons from danger, perform search and rescue as well as salvage operations. Other duties include the use of sophisticated fire apparatus, including hoses, ladders, power equipment. Participate in inspections of buildings, hydrants, and other fire prevention or inspection programs, including assisting in fire prevention education programs. Also, respond to emergency medical service incidents and render medical care as appropriate. Required to perform maintenance of departmental equipment, supplies and facilities, including painting, general repairs and light construction work. Instructs others in training and safety, including firefighters, public and private. Performs other related duties as required

The Great Lakes DivisionOur Division represents the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The board of directors is comprised of a State Representative from each of the six states who are elected to three year terms. The "Executive Officers" are elected by the membership at large and includes the president and vice president who serve two year terms. There has been a long-standing "handshake agreement" that the vice president is elected from each state on a rotational basis to ensure that one state does not dominate the board on a long term basis. There is also an understanding among the members that normal progression is the vice president is elected to the position of president upon completion his term.

The State Fire Commission’s duties include conducting research and publishing reports on fire safety for the Governor and the General Assembly, reviewing the state fire code and making recommendations for revision of fire code rules to the State Fire Marshal, and assisting the Director of Commerce in the selection and recommendation process whenever the State Fire Marshal position becomes vacant. The Fire Commission also maintains the Ohio Fire Service Hall of Fame and awards program.

The Fire Chief under the direction of the Jerome Township Board of Trustees, shall be the Chief Fire Executive Officer of the Township, and his duties shall be and not limited to, having direct control of all Fire Division employees, he shall see that all Division equipment is properly maintained, he shall see that all local, state and federal laws and ordinances and resolutions for the government be enforced and obeyed, he shall be responsible for all records and inventories located for and in the Fire Division, he shall see that all budgetary matters, and billing information are forwarded to the Township Clerks office, he shall instruct and direct Division employees on proper conduct, he shall attend Local, State & International educational conferences when possible to insure that the Division is kept up to date on new technology, he shall be active in Local, State and International organizations pertaining to the Fire and Emergency Medical Community, he shall a least once monthly report Division actives to the Township Board or Board Chairman, he shall submit monthly run reports to the Township Board, he shall report any pertinent information regarding the Fire division to the Township Board or its Chairman, he shall assist the Township Clerk in preparing the Divisions annual budget, he shall instruct and promote fire safety & emergency medical education programs in the community

FIRE FIGHTERResponds to alarms and assists in the suppression of fires by operatingvarious types of fire pumps, hydrants and high volume hoses to controlfire advancement. May climb ladders; utilize self-contained breathingapparatus (SCBA) and related equipment for various tasks and propertyprotection. Utilize skills of forcible entry and rescuing civilians orself from all types of hazardous conditions. May perform tasks such asventilation, salvage and overhaul, and clean up, to control fire and smokedamage. May assist in the investigation of fire causes, as needed;performs maintenance and cleaning of apparatus and equipment to return itto service for future alarms.Responds to emergency medical calls for assistance and provides neededcare within the scope of his/her training; performs maintenance andcleaning on apparatus and equipment to return it to readiness for futureemergency medical calls.Responds to routine service alarms, such as carbon monoxide (CO) checksand lockouts.Assists in residential, commercial, and industrial inspections todiscover and, if possible, eliminate potential fire hazards and/orproblems, and to prepare fire suppression tactics; assists in publiceducation programs. Performs maintenance and tests on apparatus, equipment, building(s),grounds, and other items entrusted to the fire department. Participate in continuing education and instructional programs byattendance at scheduled drills, classes, and by individual study. May be in-charge of emergency medical responses. May serve as a temporary, company commander, or inspector. May be subject to recall for all types of emergencies.
