About Christopher Wolfer

Chris Wolfer began his career with the Renovo Police Department as a Police Officer in 2012. In 2013 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and in 2014, Sergeant & Officer in Charge. While working for RPD, Chris successfully spearheaded efforts to expand the Renovo Police Department. He planned, organized, and led a multi-jurisdictional agreement providing police coverage to 3 municipalities which prior to this, relied on State Police for police protection. Chris began his employment with the North Catasauqua Police Department in January of 2012 while still working for RPD. Throughout his career with NCPD, Chris dedicated a substantial amount of his efforts to training. He became a Taser Master Instructor, a Bola-Wrap Instructor, a Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, a firearms instructor, a pistol red-dot Instructor, a field training officer instructor, An active shooter response instructor, and a Search and Seizure Instructor. In 2015 Chris was declared a Search & Seizure subject matter expert through the Clinton County Courts. He was also the Domestic Violence Liaison for Clinton County and a member of the Clinton County Swift Water Rescue Team. He began an internship program in corroboration with Lock Haven University which gave criminal justice students college credits for real-life experience. One of the students he mentored in this program followed in his footsteps and is now a patrolman with the North Catasauqua Police Department. He is a member of the Attorney General’s Narcotics Task Force, the Northampton County Drug Task, and the Northampton County DUI Task Force. In 2018 Chris was promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned as the evidence technician, major crime investigator, and head Field Training Officer. On July 13th, 2019, Chief of Police Kim Moyer passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Chris was, at the time, the senior officer with the department and given the title of Officer-in-charge. Chris made dramatic changes to every aspect of the department while still conducting patrol functions. In February of 2020, North Catasauqua chose to make Chris the Chief of Police after rigorous testing of numerous candidates. In 2021, Chris was awarded the 40under40 award from the International Association of Chiefs of Police. This is one of the most prestigious awards in policing as 40 ranking officers throughout the world under the age of 40 are chosen who have made significant positive impacts on their department and policing. Chris is the 1st officer in Pennsylvania to receive this award and one of 13 chosen from the United States.
