Chiew developed a strong passion and aptitude for technology at a young age, first discovering programming at 13 with the encouragement of a supportive math teacher. Just two years after writing his first line of code, he ranked top nationally and was selected to represent Singapore in the International Computer Programming Competition. Skipping Junior College, Chiew transitioned directly from secondary school to university, and graduated with double honors in just three years from the University of Waterloo in Computer Science and Mathematics (Combinatorics & Optimisation). At 20, Chiew started his career as a research scientist specialising in cutting edge Operational Research ( "Kanban" techniques ). By the age of 22, the software and algorithms he created were already utilised by 70% of Japan's major manufacturers to reduce costs, handle unexpected events, and improve inventory efficiencies. He also contributed to building fintech infrastructure, enhancing global financial systems for many of the world’s largest international banks. Recognizing the impact to industries in the age of AI and robotics, Chiew founded ClassDo in Singapore, to help companies worldwide overcome the severe skills shortage crisis by transforming repetitive workforces into creative, future-ready teams. Chiew is grateful for the many recognitions he has received throughout his career, including being named one of the "30 People Defining Japan's Tomorrow" by Nikkei BP and being featured in the Wall Street Journal and other publications. He was named "Tech Heroes from crisis : Singapore's IT Leader of the Year 2021" for his significant contributions to Singapore during the COVID-19 pandemic.
