About Chigo Okonkwo
With over 20 years of experience in high capacity optical communications, optical networks, quantum optical and signal processing, I am the co-founder and CTO of CUbIQ Technologies, a startup that leverages coherent transmission technology for optical and quantum communication applications. I am an Associate professor and the head of the High Capacity Optical Transmission laboratory at TU Eindhoven, where I lead a team of researchers and oversee several Dutch National and European projects on quantum communications, space division multiplexing, signal processing, photonic systems integration and 5G/6G networks based on Free Space Optical Communications.My mission is to develop practical implementation techniques and testbeds for ultra-high capacity classical optical fiber/free-space systems and quantum communication systems, collaborating with industrial and academic partners across the globe. I have contributed to the advancement of the field with multiple world record transmission results, post-deadline papers, patents, and publications in prestigious journals such as journal of Lightwave Technology, Nature Photonics and Optics Express. As a senior member of IEEE, I mentor junior scientists inspiring them in ways to grow their science and I also serve as a reviewer. I have (co)authored more than 350 publications in conferences and journals.
