• Physically examined the geometry and structural make-up of the existing blades and modelled a replica using CATIA V5
• Bending stiffness between the model and the existing blade, obtained by experiment, were matched within a 7% error margin
• Finite Element Model natural frequencies were matched to bending natural frequencies of a beam of equivalent stiffness, obtained from experiment, within a 10% error margin
• Identified that the existing blades were more suited to acrobatic flight maneuvers and it had to be optimized for forward flight. This was performed using Altair Hyperworks software
