Upon reaching the end of my term as Vice President Welfare and Community, it became apparent to me that I had achieved everything I wanted to achieve in the role and I wanted a new challenge, which the role of President would provide. In my time so far, I have been able to contribute to strategic planning for both the university and the Students' Union, facilitated screening panels and successfully recruited 3 trustees for the Students' Union, contributed to a national campaign to change the students maintenance loan structure, been invited to speak on cost-of-living and international student experience at the UUK Unipol 14th Joint Codes’ Conference.

Sequel to my experience as a Course Representative for the 4 years of my undergraduate degree, I was drawn to this role at the SU. Given I was a new international student who had been at the university for about 4 months at the time, I at many times felt isolated and I knew many international students felt similarly. I ultimately decided to run for this role because my experience as a Course Representative put me in a good position to be successful as a Full-Time Officer and also because it would give me the opportunity to create initiatives that would help the students coming after me not feel as isolated as I did.In my time I have been able to create cost of living support initiatives at the SU, create an International Buddy Scheme program aimed at tackling loneliness/isolation which saw uptake from 400 students in its first year of running, secured funding for the Students’ Union through discussions with the High Sheriff of Dorset about student wellbeing and its challenges resulting in a donation of £10,000 from the Fine Family Foundation which was used to create a student social space on campus, and contributed to the university's Race Equality Charter submission resulting in its first REC award.

Upon completion of my first degree, I was employed as a Graduate Trainee within the Employee Service team, Human Resources department at Sterling Bank Headquarters. Was responsible for taking and processing requests from employees nationwide, processing benefits and bonuses weekly, as well as maintaining a payroll record. Successfully acquired field experience in Human Capital Management, organisational coordination, communication and people skills through working closely with the Employee Services team, the larger Human Resources department and correspondence with employees of Sterling Bank nationwide.
