As an R&D Engineer was part of the simulator team contributed to the development of an automated DevOps platform for HP’s Printer Firmware – building and testing multitude of builds every day for tens of HP's Inkjet printer products, leveraging the Virtual Printer platform and its capabilities.The Infrastructure leveraged the printer simulators for the execution of thousands of unit/ integration/ function tests in parallel against different builds in firmware lifecycle. It was scaled to handle thousands of simulators which were instantiated and destroyed dynamically based on the requirement over multiple execution nodes. The whole infrastructure was divided into multiple microservices with the help of open source tools and technologies. These microservices functioned independently and had exposed endpoints which were used to communicate with them. The tests were developed using Robot framework to enable rapid test development based on keyword driven testing frameworks.The infrastructure provided:• A scalable system which executes firmware tests on more than 1200 simulators in parallel. Tests which would take a week to execute manually could be completed in 10 mins through this infrastructure.• Generates analytics about the health of the firmware and its components.
