Graduate Research AssistantRochester Institute Of Technology Jun 2012 - Apr 2014Rochester, Ny, Us-Designed an electroplating system to fabricate microporous surface on open microchannel copper test section to enhance its heat transfer performance using multiphase heat transfer technique-Prepared a Standard Operating Procedure for fabricating microporous surfaces-Conducted a Design of Experiments to determine optimum range of microchannel geometries that could enhance heat transfer-Tested these surfaces for heat transfer performance using distilled water at atmospheric pressure-Designed and fabricated a test setup to evaluate heat transfer performance of the surfaces using SolidWorks and ANSYS, and designed machining tool path using SprutCAM software-Designed data acquisition system using National Instruments data acquisition chassis, and prepared a virtual instrument using LabVIEW software-The enhanced surfaces yielded heat transfer coefficient of 1 million w/cm^2°C and is in process of obtaining US patents. This is highest heat transfer coefficient as seen in literature using similar technique-Predicted the underlying heat transfer mechanism-Conducted first hand approximation calculations to validate the proposed mechanism. The calculations showed that the proposed mechanism and proposed theoretical model were in good agreement with each other. -
