Since being named President and Chief Executive Officer at EGPAF in 2010, I’ve led the Foundation through significant changes to our programmatic and advocacy portfolio of work, including the organization’s transition from several centrally managed, global awards to implementing a broad range of bilateral awards in a dozen countries. Prior to joining EGPAF I spent many years managing and developing programs for global organizations, including as director of special initiatives in the Global Development Program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where I led a team dedicated to global poverty reduction. I also spent more than 20 years with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), as a program officer in Mozambique; Chief of Staff to the Executive Director, UNICEF headquarters; and president and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.I’m a longtime advocate for global and children’s health and have served as a member of the Human Rights Watch Health and Human Rights Advisory Committee. I worked from its inception to help develop the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) and served on the Board of the GAVI Fund, chairing its executive committee from 2004 to 2006. I was appointed by President Barack Obama and served as the U.S. Representative to the Executive Board of UNICEF from 2015-2016, and previously served as the President’s appointed U.S. Alternate Representative (2011-2015).
