Profile bio

About Chip Strangfeld

Highly adaptable leader who is profoundly honored and grateful for the opportunity to have served loyally for 13 years in three positions of increased responsibility in the DHS National Operations Center (NOC) after 30 fantastic years in uniform with the U.S. Coast Guard. However, having been a "weekend commuter" since 2008, I retired from DHS in March 2023 and am now available for part time / remote / local (near Waretown, NJ) work or consulting / advising. I would be more than happy to travel as needed. I earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and have a broad background in national program management and interagency operations. I successfully performed in a broad diversity of challenging assignments over 30 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, including as a regional agency principal (San Diego Sector Commander/Captain of the Port/Air Station Commanding Officer). I then built on a strong understanding of DHS operations and incident/crisis response across the Homeland Security Enterprise, first leading teams, and eventually the entire multi-agency DHS NOC as the Deputy Director, in a fast-paced environment. I held a TS-SCI clearance throughout, and excel at time-critical, executive-level writing, editing, and proofreading. I am a self-starter with impeccable work-ethic, attention to detail and integrity.
