I have worked as a professional pilot since 1994. My past work includes working as a flight instructor, aerial mapping, and helping with atmospheric sampling projects through the University of Maryland.From 1996 to 2012, I was a pilot with Comair Airlines, d/b/a Delta Connection, flying Embraer EMB-120 Brasilias and Bombardier Canadair CRJ CL-65 aircraft. I've also worked as a Line Check Airman in the CRJ.I also wrote a study guide for the CRJ that sold over 2000 copies.Since 2000, I've been a freelance writer for AOPA Pilot and Flight Training Magazines, covering a range of topics that vary from techical to human interest. I've also worked for the AOPA Air Safety Institute as a public speaker, presenting seminars that are of interest to the general aviation pilot community.Since June 2013, I have been employed as a pilot by United Airlines. I spent two yeas flying as a B-737 First Officer on the island of Guam My experience here has consisted of trans-oceanic flying, use of HF radios/procedures, and Extended Twin Engine Operations (ETOPS). In 2015, I transferred to our Newark base. In 2022 I upgraded to become a B-737 Captain in Newark.I have also worked as volunteer scuba diver in the manatee exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo, cleaning the tanks and feeding the animals. I'm also a Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI) certified Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI).
