In 2011 I worked with Professor Duncan Buell at USC/Columbia on a small team doing an independent audit of the November, 2010 general election in South Carolina. We wrote several papers for both the academic and popular press and raised sufficient concern in the state about the tally for the State Election Commission to order their own audit of the election. (Among our achievements was explaining how one county unintentionally counted over 13,000 votes for several candidates despite having only 11,656 ballots cast.)

Created trailers for several years of Woods Hole Film Festivals, including 2011. My first animated film, "flying" screened at the "Dancing Lines" show at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston on 11/27 and 12/11 in 2011. This is the third ICA show to include "flying", so thank you ICA.

My mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2004. She died in 2008, outliving her initial prognosis by several years. While she was ill, I was her primary caregiver and companion, taking her to appointments, making repairs to her house and doing other chores of use to her.

At Dragon, I worked in the research department with the language modeling group developing algorithms to improve the performance of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and constructing tools to build and test vocabularies for NaturallySpeaking. I also taught several instances of my introductory course in programming with Perl. On several occasions, I also worked in the engineering department writing code for the company's retail application, Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

I hired, trained and scheduled projectionists at four Cape Cod theaters. I also operated and maintained the projection equipment at my theater. In addition, I led a campaign to organize the projectionists at the four theaters owned by Hoyt's Cinemas on Cape Cod, MA. The organizing drive began in 1988. In 1991, our local branch of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) signed a contract with Hoyt's Cinemas that doubled the wages of our members. In 1991, I was also elected shop steward of my union local.
