There's a correlation between procurement and coaching baseball that I can drive both home in the same way. The inactivity between pitches is where you can set the basis for what to do after the ball is hit or in the case of procurement what to do when you're looking for equipment, services, software or maintenance. This is the time where I can set up my vendors, my contracts and my strategy to lessen costs, find the best products all while conducting myself with the industry's best practices. I'm always looking for ways to better myself as a coach, and procurement manager.
