I completed my mandatory 8 weeks internship at Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Which is Government Constituted Employer in Goa state. I was located at very challenging project at sea shore i.e. Rejuvenation of Mandovi River Promenade from children’s park to youth hostel Miramar. Basically part of AMRUT project, Goal of AMRUT project is to provide basic services (e.g. water supply, sewerage, urban transport) to household and build amenities in cities which will improve the quality of life for all, especially the poor and disadvantaged national priority.Majorly I was involved in Quality Survey, Tendering & Bidding, Contracting, Project Planning and Operation Management. Where I observed how process of a project initiate from conceptualization phase to execution/ Implementation. I learned about the various construction activities and the risks involved in each activity. Later I was switched in Planning where I learnt PMS ( Project management Scheduling & Control System), scheduling of activities, rate analysis, planning with vendor development, parallely I was associated with inspection of daily work progress with specified quality as per standards Then I shifted to Stores, Quality, Accounts, where I observed the professional work flow of the organization. The main challenge was to keep the project aligned with the schedule to avoid any escalation. The basics of civil engineering and onsite decision taking skills learned during this internship helps me in my current career growth.
